Now Hiring
We are hiring for an experienced, long term mechanic
to come and hit the ground running. Shop experience
is a must. Starting wage will range with experience.
Advantages:
-The staff run the shop as a collective which provides
a lot of freedom to make changes and implement ideas
-Low-key vibe where human/environmental values
are more important than the financial bottom line
-Our do-it-yourself ethic means the mechanic
fulfills many different roles with co-workers,
customers, and distributors
Challenges:
-Primary goal of the Bike Kitchen is to serve
the community, so we don't always function as a
regular commercial bike shop=-effective communication
skills are a must!
-Our diverse clientele encompasses recreational riders,
avid commuters, and high end road/mountain bike riders
Qualifications:
-Exceptional social skills: be a patient, caring, communicator,
teacher, and co-worker
-Strong mechanical skills: we hope that you will continue
to develop and learn as a mechanic in our shop, but this
is not a training position; must be able to do
service-writing and full tune ups.
-Experience managing bike shop operations, especially
inventory, is an asset
-Demonstrated appreciation of, and commitment to, the
values of the grassroots cycling movement, including
environmental sustainability and social justice
-The ability to work harmoniously and respectfully
with a diverse range of people
Please apply in person with a resume.
